Many of you guys are probably familiar with Shinnorie from my review of the Chase bag for iPad a few days ago. The Ringo Sleeve is extremely nice too and I’m quite happy with it, but unlike the Chase bag, the Ringo has a couple of issues worth mentioning.
First off, look at it! It’s a super classy executive style iPad sleeve that you can dress up or down, depending on how you color-customize it. In case you didn’t know, all Shinnorie’s products are 100% customizable with loads of colors to choose for the flap, body, handle, and strap. Just like with my Chase bag order, the Ringo arrived to me exactly as it was pictured online when I created it. While the leather is thinner than I expected, it’s more than enough to clothe your iPad sufficiently and looks great doing it. Though thin, the leather grain is clearly high quality, but still I’m not sure that accounts for the price tag. I don’t think $95 is necessarily too much, but when compared to what you get for less at Shinnorie, you might want to look around.
While the price for the Ringo says $79 on the iPad bags page, when you click through to the item page you can visibly see the price switch to $95.00 as the page loads. Maybe this will be fixed, and maybe $79 is the real price, but I paid $95. Like I said, it is real leather, but for $16 less the faux leather Chase bag is as nice or nicer and way more bag for your money, so it’s hard to justify unless you’re buying it only for it’s leathery good looks – which I was, because it does look great. If you need more room though, it’s a no brainer – go with the Chase.

It will accomodate an iPad 2 with a SmartCover affixed to it and probably most other thin-shell style iPad 2 cases. As for iPad 1…yes, it will easily fit an iPad 1 but perhaps not if it has a shell on it, there might not be enough width to spare. (Sorry, I only tested this with iPad 2!). My one other point of concern is the side handle. It’s attached with slits in the leather stiffly fitting over bolts and is very tight, however the tiny possibility remains that the handle could slip off the bolt over time while carrying it. Again, I highly doubt this will happen given how light the iPad 2 is, and how stiff the leather is, but as a reviewer I have to entertain the possibility.

The inside is extremely soft and will be very kind to your iPad and the small embossed Shinnorie logo on the back adds a nice touch. The stitching matches nicely too, this thing is a supermodel.
Despite it’s small downsides of price, thinness, and the handle, these are not a deterrent to me at all. I am just pointing them out because everyone’s different and comes to the table with different expectations in a sleeve. If you can stomach the $95 entry fee, I guarantee you’ll love how your personalized Ringo sleeve comes out.
