Whoa now! It looks like your iPad is being swallowed by a cyborg! The new Kickback P1 from Scosche is obviously not taking the minimalist approach on this one, it’s certainly not the sort of industrial design that matches Apple’s style, but you can’t deny the fact this thing is a tank. I can’t imagine your iPad getting so much as a scratch while incased in this thing. Ultra tough outer shell supplemented by a nice rubber lining to absorb impact, as well as rubber sections for maximum grip. This hulking beast is best suited for landscape video watching or typing input, but you can prop it vertical too.
The Kickback plumps up the iPad a bit, but if you can get past the fatness, you’ll have one heavily armored device. Available now, $59.99, direct from Scosche.

The Apple iPad Case – A Guide To Protecting Your iPad
When it comes for the most preferred accessories for the iPad, the apple iPad case comes out on top. Since the iPad was released, hundreds of independent producers have come up with artistic, bold, functional, and protective styles of cases to guard your expensive gadget. Here’s a quick guide to a variety of types offered and why you may need to have them.
Why Buy A Case At All?
Although some will say that the iPad glass monitor can’t be scratched, put it in your bag next to your keys and you’ll soon see that it can. Even though it’s true that the iPad is pretty durable, thinking about how you are always going to be carrying it all around, it is critical that you can keep it protected.
Display Screen Protectors
Despite the fact that apple iPad display screen protectors assist to protect against scratches, they are less a case and more a protective layer that you stick over the display screen in the apple iPad. These are available from an enormous number of manufacturers and are the simplest technique to retain your screen free of scratches. These won’t do anything to guard against bumps and falls.
Sleeves
Sleeves are typically made from thin material, created for you to slip your iPad inside to protect it towards scratches. This performs a comparable function to the screen protector, although protecting the entire apple iPad body.
iPad Skins
This type of Apple iPad case simply wraps all around the sides and back of the apple iPad, and is popularly used as a way to make it look much more personal and distinctive. Skins are usually produced of silicone, and as such add a little extra padding, as well as fantastic protection towards dust and dirt. Even though skins seem good, it’s unlikely that they are going to guard against dropping it.
Soft Cases
The most popular forms of case is the soft, full case. These cases are normally developed with layers of padding, and enclose the whole of your apple iPad. They will allow you to reach all of your buttons and functions very easily, and commonly open and close to guard your display screen when you are not using it.
Hard Cases
For those who want a lot more safety, hard cases are available in a quantity of styles and materials. Hard leather cases are intended for maximum safety.
Bags
Lastly, you can also buy an iPad bag to carry your device. The most effective iPad bags have a number of other pockets for anything else you may need to carry around, and you are able to also get them in briefcase form.

iPad Case Review – Tom Bihn Ristretto Bag
Initial Thoughts
We instantly took notice of Tom Bihn Ristretto Bag’s superior quality. The materials used in this iPad case were strong and sturdy. It is very detailed and obviously done with superior quality and care. The Tom Bihn logo at the bottom right side of the bag is sized enough to be seen.
Best Use
Tom Bihn Ristretto Bag is not only for the iPad but it can also be used as an everyday bag. There are several compartments to keep your day-to-day things. You can place small or big items inside because the compartments are quite spacious. It is an ideal iPad bag and a messenger bag at the same time.
Features
The Ristretto Bag from Tom Bihn features a number of remarkable elements. First, it has a solid buckle for opening and closing the asymmetrical flap. When you open the bag, the interior has a different color that beautifully contrasts the exterior. There are layers of compartments inside. The first layer is an organizer when you can put small stuff like your pens, cell phones and other small things.
Next, there’s a zipper compartment where you could place more important items like your wallet. The main compartment is divided into 2 portions by a built-in cache. The thick cache has 4 layers of Taslan that makes it soft yet strong. The back side is also padded with stronger foam for a better protection on your iPad.
At the back, there is a handle. The Ristretto Bag also boasts an absolutely strong shoulder strap that is made of neoprene pad. The length of the strap can be adjusted or it can even be removed by the connecting hooks so you have different carrying options. This shoulder strap magically makes the load half lighter than its actual weight. Moreover, there’s another compartment at the back and another buckle strap that you can secure around your waist.
Materials
Tom Bihn’s Ristretto Bag is made of tough and durable materials. The exterior is made of 1000 denier Cordura and carefully lined with 500 denier Cordura. The Ristretto Bag consists of sturdy buckles and a zipper. The interior is padded with 4 layers of Taslan which is thick but feels soft. Your iPad is definitely secured inside this Ristretto Bag. The shoulder strap is made from neoprene pad that is soft and wide. The snaphooks also allow you to remove the shoulder strap and carry it by its top handle.
Pricing
The Ristretto Bag is reasonably priced at $110 each. But it’s worth every penny because it serves not only as an iPad bag but it also functions as your everyday bag. You would surely get your money’s worth.
Verdict
Tom Bihn’s Ristretto Bag for iPad is wonderfully made. The quality is superior and there isn’t any hint of mass-production feel. It also serves dual function – an iPad bag and your daily messenger bag.
The Ristretto Bag offers a number of amazing features like the asymmetrical flap, sturdy buckles and a zipper, a series of spacious compartments and the shoulder strap that can make the load feel lighter. Your iPad is also protected by a built-in Taslan cache.
Tom Bihn’s Ristretto Bag retails for $110 or add $20 more for an Absolute Shoulder Strap. It comes in 6 different color combinations namely Cocoa/Steel, Olive/Cayenne, Black/Wasabi, Cocoa/Cayenne, Black/Steel, Navy Steel, and Steel/Wasabi. You can get this iPad case on Tom Bihn’s official website.

Your Toddler Has an iPad? Check Out The Griffin Lightboard
Whoa, this is quite a bold little product. Are there really that many parents out there letting their small child play with their delicate iPad?? Griffin seems to think so, and they’ve created this unique case tailor made for your budding little artist, the Lightboard. The idea here is twofold, the first being that the case is kid-tested and kid-tough. It’s ready to absorb bumps like no tomorrow, ok cool. Secondly, it’s meant to go hand in hand with the corresponding Lightboard App, which is lots of fun images for them to trace on the included lightboard paper. Pretty cool idea, but I would still be a little wary of letting a kid play with an iPad AND giving them a marker to scribble on it. I have a feeling kids might forget to use the paper more often than not.
This one is available direct from Griffin, $39.99. Is your Christmas shopping done!?

Bag of the Week! The BOA Push by Booq for iPad
Sometimes a bag is so cool, I will designate it Bag of the Week! OK, so this is the first time I’ve ever done it. I needed an angle! My eyes are killing me tonight so the Bag of the Week photos are going to do most of the talking. I don’t see how anyone looking for an iPad bag, business or casual, could argue against this design. It’s just beautiful. Plenty of pockets in the guts, so whip out all those cards in your wallet you never use and load this thing up. It’s clocking in at $89.99, and available now.
Honestly I’d love to write more, but I’m about to zonk out in about 3 seconds. No time for Flipboard and Words with Friends tonight!

The Nimbus Tote Goes 2.0 Adding Useful Flap Option
Howdy iPadbaggers! It’s Friday and I’m in a great mood, perfect for talkin bag! Regular readers of the blog will remember our review of the Nimbus Tote from a few months back. It’s a phenomenal bag with a little hang up I mentioned in the review, and that was the fact the iPad remained visible to all while in the touch-thru pocket. While the ability to access the iPad in a pinch is invaluable in some instances, my gripe was it may not be right for everyone, since you may become a mugger magnet!
Well the crew at Totes For Devices has tweaked the Nimbus and added a simple option that takes care of the problem entirely. A flap! The tote flap is unobtrusive and does not interfere with getting into the main zippered compartment – unlike an annoying messenger bag flap. It also adds a little extra protection by default! Like I said in the initial review, the Nimbus is a great bag with perhaps the nicest feature being the conformable filling for easy ergonomics when laying in bed, or just about anywhere. If you’re going to buy a Nimbus, shell out the extra $5 for the version with Flap!

Powermax Zippered Folio: Hands-On Review! And Giveaway!
The Powermax Zip folio caught my eye a few days ago, so I decided to order one up and review the hell out of it for you guys, and overall I’m pretty happy with it! As far as zip folios go, this one is certainly on the low end price wise, which is why I had no problem just ordering it on a whim, but was pleased to see it looks and handles like a mid-range folio. You certainly get a little bit more than your $25 worth on this one. The beige leather is soft and plush, and but it’s constructed with a stiff plastic under the leather to keep shape and add protection.
The zippers are surprisingly shiny and eye-catching for a $25 case, and the inner pocket is lined with soft unfinished leather complete with nice stitching work.

One potential issue is the zippers are a bit close to the corners of the iPad when the folio is unzipped, so there might be a slight chance of minor zipper on iPad scratching if you’re not careful. I didn’t experience this, but overtime it’s possible. The iPad goes in and out easy. First slide the upper and lower right corners into the fixed leather straps then secure it with the elastic and leather straps on the left side. Very nicely implemented and it keeps the iPad very tight in there. You can hold it upside down no problem.
The case has got good looks, is extremely protective when zipped up – you can toss this in a backback with books and other junk and not think twice, it’ll be fine. It’s RUGGED. And the price is within everyone’s budget. I highly recommend this one guys.
It’s available in 3 colors in limited quantities, some colors almost out of stock, so if you’re so inclined, move it!
WHOA WHOA WHOA NOW! Do you want to WIN this very Leather Zip Folio by Powermax!?
To enter just send an email to iPadBags@gmail.com with the subject “FOLIO!” and pray to the iPad gods that you’re randomly selected! Winner will be drawn August 30th!

No Time For Snoozin’ with the iPad Pillow Stand from Cote Et Ciel
Well this is a weird one. The forthcoming iPad pillow stand by Cote Et Ciel is almost in a league of it’s own. There’s only one other iPad accessory in this genre I’ve come across thus far, and that’s the Nimbus Tote. It’s vaguely Nimbus Tote inspired simply from the fact it’s a pillow/iPad bag, but the execution is totally different. This one can configure itself in a few ways, the most interesting mode being when you’re presumably laying in bed..the iPad props between two stretched walls of the bag to look like little jaws eating up your toy. In the photo it props the iPad up in landscape mode, I’m not sure if the material stretches and holds it as tight in portrait.
It sports a strap for underarm carrying, but no official handle. The case is not intended to be a bag on it’s own, more of a puffy case to put in another bag. I’m not sure this one hits the mark, it’s a little too in-between. If I bought it, I wouldn’t take it anywhere, it would just be for home use, and I’d keep my standard bag or folio for transporting it.
It’s not quite available yet, but Cote Et Ciel is taking orders. 50 EURO will get secure you one of these bizzare European monstrosities.
